Cement Bridge #2
A bridge for the North Farm
MAP 16 - NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE
Hidden by brush, meadow, and wetlands at the northeast corner of the public park area are the second cement bridge and the Camel’s Hump Farms “burning pit.” These, known mostly to old-timers, local fishers, and a few curious park walkers, are generally out of view of the average visitor. Many level changes and unmarked paths make these features inaccessible for most visitors.
This bridge and the cement bridge along the drive to the “Big House” have only one feature in common - they both cross the Monocacy. This bridge was designed not to be beautiful, merely functional. While built with many of the same construction techniques (and possibly the same builders), it was designed to move farm vehicles around the properties. The road leading to it from the railroad crossing is difficult to see at ground level.
Visiting this feature is not recommended alone or without a phone.
