After the publication of a park plan created by Pennoni Associates in 2011, funds were obtained for signage and two interpretive kiosks. The kiosk pictured here is about 50 yards from the fenced spring.
In recent years, environmental sciences teachers have found Housenick Park to be a good location for nature observations and class discussions. Discussion points include the changes of seasons, human impact on nature, wildlife, flora, birds, air and water quality, and other topics about how humans encounter nature.
This location - or another in the park - is an ideal point to stop for a few minutes and listen to birdcalls, the flow of the creek, the buzz of insects. Take deep breaths; the air here is cleansed by the wind passing through the leaves in spring, summer, and autumn. In winter, enjoy the brown and grey tones of a Pennsylvania woods.
