Learning about the House and Property

Our work has been informed by diaries, photographs, and personal papers available at Lehigh University’s Special Collections Department at its Linderman Library. The map above, dated 1929, was drawn by Leonard M. Fraivillig, a member of the City of Bethlehem’s City Engineering department.

FUNding the exterior renovation and stabilization

Bethlehem Township in partnership with the Housenick Trust funded the external renovation and stabilization of the Mansion, preparing it for subsequent interior renovation work.

Orchard gazebo

Early in 2019, Bethlehem Township erected a gazebo amid the apple trees on the east side of the Mansion, which is visible in the background.

SCENIC OVERLOOK

The overlook, shown in mid-April 2019, offers a commanding view of the Monocacy Valley below. The Township erected the overlook using the foundation of the old garage and pheasant coop shown on the map above. The benches face northeast.
